October News from Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association
Your neighborhood association is meeting on Monday, october 13, at 6:30!

We will have Chinook Books (hard copy and mobile) for sale. They are $15 (mobile), $20 (hard copy), or $30 for both. Half of the proceeds go to the neighborhood association to support Movies in the Park, National Night Out, and other great events!

Remember, you can purchase your very own Foster Love bike bell at the meeting, or at Torta-landia, Meticon, and Speedboat Coffee. $10 cash or check.

Our meeting is held in the Bar Carlo lounge - you can order food and drink, and it's kid-friendly during the meeting.

Hope to see you Monday!

Saturday, October 25 from 4-8pm, Foster-Powell Community Garden, SW corner of 62nd & Powell:
We are celebrating Foster-Powell's underdog transformation of an ODOT surplus lot (former gas station) into a community garden that is finally operational after a 3 year effort! This is a very special garden so let's make a big deal of it! Located at the corner of 62nd and Powell Blvd. across the street from Dennis' 7 Dees. See the Facebook event or garden website for information. There will be fun for the whole family!
Ongoing, Marysville Elementary, 7733 SE Raymond St: There are SMART students at Marysville Elementary waiting to be read with! Volunteer to read with SMART® (Start Making A Reader Today) for one hour a week!
As a SMART volunteer, you’ll read one-on-one with PreK through third-grade students each week from mid-October through mid-May.  The consistent, one-on-one time helps build literacy skills and self-confidence.  SMART further encourages children to read outside the classroom by giving students new books each month to take home and keep. We need your help! Please join us in showing the community that Reading Matters by spreading the word about SMART’s need to your networks, colleagues, friends and families. Please forward this message to your contacts or post about SMART on your social networks. You can find SMART’s Facebook page here and Twitter profile here. For more information about volunteering with SMART, call 971-634-1616 or
