Welcome to our new Americorps VISTAS!

Rhogenia Carter and Jackie Meyer joined our team on July 14 as our new Program Coordinators. They will be developing our Students Stewards Program to establish citizen science activities for Washoe County Schools in nearby parks. Rhogenia has her M.A. in Educational Curriculum and was a teacher in Washoe County Schools for 20 years. Jackie has her M.S. in Natural Resources and Environmental Management and is new to Nevada. Mo Loden (Development Coordinator) and Jamie Kennedy (Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator) will be joining the team on August 10!

Rephotography Event at Bowers Mansion Honors Pioneering Families

The Parks Rephotography Project recreated this 1874 photograph during the July 26 Nevada Proud Pioneer Picnic at Bowers Mansion that honored Pioneering Families. The Parks Rephotography Project is a volunteer-driven initiative that documents the changes in our parks over time. In the 140 years between these photographs, not much has changed; except the 36 stars on the 1874 flag! For more information about Bowers Mansion, read Nevada Magazine.
Check out our Historical Archive - do you have old pictures of any Truckee Meadows Parks? Please share them with us so we can recreate them! Visit our Contemporary Archive and consider volunteering to be a Park Site Steward: by photographing the same park scene each season, you can help us document change in our community.
Park Site Stewards: Remember to send your summer photos here!

Virginia Lake Dog Park Restoration Project
Picture
We are working with the Virginia Lake Dog Park Reconstruction Association, a group of dog park users, to restore the facility. Our goal is to raise $40,000 to make the area more dog and people friendly.  Visit our website to learn more and donate today!

August 16 Wine Walk!

TMPF is the Recipient of the Wine Walk Donation
We will have four tables at the August 16th Wine Walk - but we need volunteers from 1:30 - 5pm! Volunteers will talk about Truckee Meadows Parks and the work the Foundation does to support parks. If you have an AES card and want to pour wine, we could use your help, too! If not, be sure to come by on August 16th, check out our tables, pick up a wine glass charm, and have fun! If you want to volunteer or have questions, do not hesitate to contact Jackie (jackie@tmparksfoundation.org or 775-276-5816).
