Renoites Get into Parks Rephotography Project
130+ citizens come out to recreate dedication photo
The Parks Rephotography Project's traveling exhibition, Parks: Past/Present Perspectives, has a new addition thanks to the wonderful folks that helped recreate a 1927 photograph documenting the dedication of the California Building in Idlewild Park. As a Historic Preservation Month event, all attendees received a deck of sesquicentennial "Battle Born" playing cards and were invited to view the exhibition free of charge.
Check out the Rephotography Project at our website and consider volunteering to be a Park Site Steward. By photographing the same park scene each season you can help us document change in our community. We have around 30 of the 200 parks in Truckee Meadows (yep!) under site stewardship, so we need your help. It's fun, easy and free, so what are you waiting for?
Discover Your Parks Summer Evening Walks Begin Next Week
Explore our parks every Thursday, all summer long
In cooperation with our parks partners, Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is leading weekly interpretive walks in a park near you. These evening saunters are free and open to the public and focus on the natural and cultural history found in our region. Plan on spending about one hour on each walk. Distances range from .5 miles to two miles. We welcome knowledgeable co-leaders, so if you are interested in volunteering, give us a call at 775-453-0698 or shoot us an email.
Big Thanks to the Runners and Walkers of the 5K!
It may have been a bit chilly, but it was still a great morning for a 5K and kids fun run. Congratulations to the winners and thank you everyone who helped TMPF support our parks!
