Upcoming Trails Challenge Guided Hike

Tom Cooke and White Fir Trails - 2.0 miles

 

The hike will begin at 9am in Mayberry Park along the Truckee River and make we will make our way up the steep climb of the Tom Cooke Trail. Once we reach the top, we'll move onto the White Fir Trail and loop back around to the trailhead.

Reno Wine Walk
Saturday, April 18th - Get your walking shoes on and your wine glasses ready! Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation will be the official charity receiving a portion of the proceeds from this popular monthly event.

Ag Day 2015
Looking for something to do tomorrow, March 18th? Join Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space, the Nevada Department of Agriculture, and G's Farm and Poultry at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park for Ag Day! It will be a family oriented day of educational activities, games, and more, all focused around agriculture!

Science Corner

A salty ocean is lurking beneath the surface of Jupiter's largest moon, Ganymede, scientists using the Hubble Telescope have found. The ocean, which is buried under a thick crust of ice, could actually harbor more water than all of Earth's surface water combined.

 Truckee River Clean-up

When: Saturday, March 21st (This weekend!), 10 am - noon
Where: Idlewild Park - TMPF office at 50 Cowan Dr.

 
Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation needs your help this Saturday for our first quarterly Truckee River Clean-up. TMPF is the official adopter of the Truckee River section that flows through Idlewild Park as part of Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful's Adopt-A-Spot Program. In addition to disposing of trash, we will be scrubbing graffiti and pulling weeds. 

If you are interested in joining us in the clean-up effort, meet at the TMPF office just before 10 am on Saturday. All necessary materials will be provided. If you have any questions please contact jamie@tmparksfoundation.org.
 


Explore the Outdoors 5K Fun Run/Walk 

In partnership with Washoe County and KNPB Channel 5, TMPF is proud to present the Explore the Outdoors 5K Fun Run and Walk at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. The run kicks off a day of family fun at the park. 

The 5K (3.1 miles) Fun Run and Walk begins at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 18th. The run begins at the Chinese Pagoda just west of the May Museum. At 10:00 am, there will be a free 1K Kids Fun Run. Register your kids (and yourself) today! Registration is $25 before April 1st, and goes up to $30 until race day.

Truckee Meadows Trails Challenge

With spring officially here it's a great time to get out and explore with the Truckee Meadows Trails Challenge!

It's a very simple, goal-oriented, and self-guided program that is as easy as:
1) Select your trails
2) Choose your level of challenge

3) Get out and Explore!

4) Log your completed trails 
5) Return your completed trail log and claim your prize!

 

TMPF provides all the materials and know-how to get you out into our many great trails and open spaces. Additionally, the last Saturday of every month TMPF offers a 2-mile guided hike for all Trails Challenge participants. This is a great way to meet new people while learning about the natural and cultural history of our area.
