Editorial

Dear colleagues
Kalo mina!
Well, I guess summer’s over despite our wishing for the opposite. So, rolling up our sleeves and getting tuned up towards some serious teaching, and, inevitably, some exam preparation seems to be in order.
Reading. How much do you know about Route 66, a.k.a. The Mother Road? I’ve fallen in love with it through stories, literature and documentaries, so here’s a list of facts about it.
Grammar: are you revising the verb BE with your post-beginners? Here’s a game for you!
Crafts: well, just to match the time of the year, how about some autumn-looking finger puppets?
Video: CNN footage about the Soviet War in Afghanistan. History, facts and listening skills, not to mention a rich source of vocab input!
Training! In the old days there used to be the coursebook, a workbook and later the Companion. Nowadays however, we the teachers find ourselves juggling games, online and offline material, songs, movies and I don’t blame us at all! Internet has brought in an infux of resources, which can turn us into a super teacher or a total fool if we fumble with them instead of using them effectively and confidently. Flexible Multimedia is running a free workshop that enables you to do just that: keep all your resources in one place so you can use them whenever the need arises. Attend the Dashboard Project for free! You can bring your own laptop for hands-on practice.
CDs of the week.
A. Active Vocabulary is a thorny issue. It doesn’t have to be boring though! Our Lexisflex series provides great practice activities, and such a variety of task types that kids will never be bored doing them, as they won’t know what’s just around the corner. (You will, though, since the Syllabus is there for you to download through my site - download the levels you prefer, print them and incorporate them in your teaching. 5 minutes a week is as little as you can devote to the development of lexical competence.
B. Brand new! Irregular verbs for B and C senior. One of its kind. €15 per level, €25 for both.
Educate, entertain, enjoy, innovate, share and never, ever, cease being awesome.
