Welcome to our newsletter,

Weekend Games – Some sad news this weekend with our top squad men in a must win situation Friday Night to stay in finals contention against WASPS. While 3 - 2 down came back to secure a 3 all draw. Unfortunately this was not good enough to secure a berth in the finals playoffs. I would like to take the opportunity to not only thank the players for a big year but would like to highlight the exceptional effort the coaching staff have put in. Led by Peter Freer (Head Coach), Charlie Gaudoin (Assistant Coach), Johnson Orr (Manager) and with Special Fitness Training Coach John DeBes a lot of new coaching territory and methods for Melville have been applied. I look towards the positive and see this style of approach only improving our chances of making finals in the future. Thank you to the team and thank you to the Coaches and Managers.

Russell Lee announced his retirement from Top Squad Hockey  at the end of the game. Russell has been a stalwart player and leadership group member for many years.  We look forward to seeing Russell in the future in a more relaxed hockey mode.

Our Top Squad ladies played against Hale and had a comfortable win beating Hale 7 - 0. The game was played in good spirit and our Coaches Blake Burrows (Head Coach) and our VP Women and Assistant Coach Steve Silvey (Assistant Coach) along with Fitness Specialist Caoch John DeBes and Manager Di Silvey used the game to fine tune the drills which they had been working on all year with this talented squad. Our Ladies ended up on top so now play off for Promotion in a special contest of round robin contests this year only. A series of three games to be played on a points based system between the bottom two teams from the Womens Premier 1 grade (Aquinas and Fremantle) and by the top 2 teams from the Promotion 1 grade (MCHC and Strikers (pending an appeal by Whitfords)). Please come out and see our ladies play Thursday 5 Sept 7:00pm at PHS. They need our support at this history making time for the club.  For full timetable of promotion games click here.

AGM – Please be advised the MCHC AGM will be held Monday Evening 16 Sept, 2013 – 6:30 PM. Please be there or if you are away nominate a proxy. This will be in the club rooms. (note change to prevously supplied info) Followed immediately by the Melville Turf Inc AGM.  Click Here for official notice.
Back to the Club Night  – This event the weekend 24 August was a great success which turned out to have record numbers and supporters at the games with a great evening of music and dancing with our club members dressed in their finest to party the night away later in the evening. Thank you to Catherine Timmel, Leonie Meacock, Jay Dorset, Sue Wilson, Tristan Clemons and Nikki Rollason (Social Committee) for being once again the catalyst of making a good night great. Thank you all so much for this event and the other events you have organized throughout the year. I know our VIPs, Life Members and Committee thoroughly enjoyed the Day and Evening.

Presentation Night – Please be advised the senior presentation night will be held at Tomkins on Swan 4th October. Tickets are now available at the Bar.

Please support our teams who are in finals over the next few weeks. They have worked hard to get there along with their coaches and managers to represent our club at this key time.
I wish you all a very good week of finals and look forward to seeing you at Melville Hockey soon.

Gary Bowater - Melville City Hockey Club – President.

Junior Indoor Hockey

Can you Help?

The season may be winding down for some, but preparations for summer & indoor seasons have already begun, AND it won't be too long before our hard working committee and volunteers start working on 2014 Winter Hockey season.  If you can help in any way from working bees, to coaching clinics, to stock take or equipment repair, - perhaps you can contact one of our committee members to offer help (click here for contacts) .  Better yet, come the Melville City Hockey Club AGM at 6.30pm at the Club rooms on Sept 16th (followed by the Melville Turf Inc AGM), and make yourself available.
Match Reports are uploaded each week to the newsletter page of the website.
Past Yearbooks available on the archive page.
