DFID fills Global Office Funding Gap

We are pleased to announce that The United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID) has provided additional funding of up to £2,300,000 (approximately 3,5 M USD ) to support the implementation of the Global Strategy to improve agricultural and rural statistics at global level.

Thanks to the additional funding, the Global Office will be able to include its remaining activities in the workplans for 2016 and 2017. These funds will support the development of cost-effective methods and the production of guidelines and training material on a number of topics that had been postponed due to the funding gap. Amongst the topics are dissemination, agri-environment and extractive agriculture. The funds will also allow to undertake research on new topics that emerged from the Sustainable Development Goals process, such as youth employment, decent work in agriculture, measuring agricultural productivity/efficiency and measuring and monitoring agricultural sustainability.

In addition, DFID will support the development and testing of the Agricultural Integrated Survey (AGRIS) methodology in one country and roll out the AGRIS toolkit, which is being developed in the framework of the Global Office workplan.
