Delving into Poems from Harlem Renaissance

George Mason school logoThe students in IB HL English were introduced to a unit on Langston Hughes' poetry this week, beginning with reading in-class from a packet of his work. Students looked into his biographical information, including his role in the Harlem Renaissance. They then made connections to some of the themes in his poems for homework.

Ed Foundation Member Hailed by Chamber

FCEF logoCongratulations to Sharon Schoeller (in the frame) and her husband, Ed Saltzberg! The Chamber of Commerce announced Sharon and Ed would receive the highest community award -- the Pillar of the Community -- at the Chamber’s Gala tomorrow night. Sharon is truly an extraordinary FCCPS volunteer.
She was Chair of Special Ed Advisory Committee in the early 1990s and
was part of a group of parents who lobbied FCCPS to become one of the first inclusive school divisions in the state, a transformative moment. She served as President of all the PTAs and currently serves on the FCEF Board of Directors.
