Diving in on Discoveries to Come in Next Unit

Mt Daniel school logoAhead of transitioning to the next PYP unit, first graders get a chance to explore materials and try to guess the next topic. They are looking through a wide range of handouts and books while talking and brainstorming ideas. It's all part of the creativity, curiosity, and independence that PYP encourages. In the end, the students were on the right track about the unit's content which is all about location -- Where We Are in Place in Time.

Encountering All Kinds of Critters at Assemblies

Thomas Jefferson school logoMt Daniel school logoAssemblies funded by the FCEPTA have been delighting the elementary students at TJ and MD, as Wildlife Ambassadors have brought mammals, insects, and birds to the schools including this majestic macaw, a possum, tarantula, ferret and more. The facilitators handle the creatures and move among the students so everyone can see, while they explain the habitat, ecosystem, adaptations, migration, and diet of each. Thank you FCEPTA for these great experiences.
