The theme of the event was "Towards an ambitious agreement at the climate change summit" . Parliamentarians, members of the Council of Europe and civil society organisations discussed the initiatives from the NGOs and Parliamentary Assembly to enable an ambitious agreement to be reached in December at the COP21 meeting in Paris. On 25 September at the UN, world leaders committed their countries to a new set of seventeen Global Goals. These aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all.
Teachers all around the world are being encouraged to get involved in The World's Largest Lesson and teach about the Global Goals to raise awareness of the initiative. Find out more

EUROGEO members Elseiver are looking for a new editor of Geoforum, with a specialization in any area of social geography to join in the management of the journal. A global activity for GIS Day

GLS-EUROGEO Competition
Frugeo-Geography Research Initiative and EUROGEO-European Association of Geographers have joined together to launch a student academic paper competition. We are giving students a publication opportunity to students to participate in our project free of charge and the potential chance to win an award. Ocean Literacy Survey
As part of the H2020 Sea Change project EUROGEO invites you to complete a survey about your organisation’s “routes of engagement” for citizens of all ages in ocean literacy, to determine how they are most likely to develop an awareness of OL issues. This data will be used to inform future Sea Change tasks, as the data will provide a background and baseline for planned mobilization activities later in the project. Take the survey

GeoSkills Plus Workshop
The final GeoSkills Plus workshop and project meeting has taken place in Brussels. The 2-year project examined the gaps affecting the geospatial market in Europe. A cooperation model was developed and tested with stakeholder groups. The final event brought decision makers together to identify ways to promote the geospatial field. Representing the EC, João Santos, Head of DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion made connections with the future EU skills agenda. A declaration calling urgently for further funded activities was signed by participants. Find out more

Have A Say On GeoBlocking
The European Commission launched a public debate with two consultations: one on geo-blocking and the other one on platforms, online intermediaries, data, cloud computing and the collaborative economy. Views expressed and information gathered will help the Commission assess the need for, or prepare initiatives as part of the Digital Single Market Strategy and the Internal Market Strategy for Goods and Services. I-Use Statistics Training
The I-Use project completed its work programme in September with a training course for teachers held in Copenhagen. The aim has been to enlarge the use of updated statistics in education for both students and teachers.The EC funded project has produced an innovative web site and an open access training course on the use of statistics, databases and visualisation in secondary education.
