Final Programme Now Online

The final conference programme including all papers, presentations and workshops is now available online. You can download it at http://www.eurogeography.eu/2015-meeting-and-conference/. Note some changes have been made from the original draft version. Some conference highlights and news are provided here.

Outdoor Learning


Developing outdoor learning is a workshop that will involve a brief explanation about GPS and ArcGIS Online, Installing MyTracks on smartphones, working outside to make a track and take photographs and seeing some existing itineraries already made with these tools. 

Statistical Literacy


An I-Use workshop will examine the importance of statistical literacy for everyday life, using a toolkit developed by the EU project. Visit the I-Use Web site to find out more.

Storymaps


Members of the ESRI team will run a workshop on Communicating Geography using Esri StoryMaps. It will demonstrate the capabilities and possibilities of communicating Geography via the Esri StoryMaps templates.

Flash Presentations 

As part of the conference, participants will be able to share their work, ideas and projects in a Flash presentations session. This will allow delegates to interact and network in an informal setting. 



An optional field excursion to Cappadocia will take place all day on 23 May 2015. More

Mapita Workshop

EUROGEO’s new member organization, Mapita, will present a workshop at the Ankara conference. They have been a forerunner in changing public participation practices in urban development contexts and making local resident insight a more integral element in planning processes. Mapita is a Finnish spin-off company from Aalto University's Land Use Planning and Urban Studies research group. Political Panel


A panel will focus on topics that highlight security issues of the post-9/11 geopolitical world and other recent security developments in the Middle East and elsewhere. The panel seeks to explore political geography of security to examine how new understandings of security impact on political geography.  

Geography in Morocco


This session examines issues teaching introductory-level geography courses in a Liberal Arts university in Morocco. This panel session proposes to explore the challenges faced in a Liberal Arts Moroccan university and some of the strategies employed to meet these challenges. 

Writing for publication  

There will be a workshop on writing for publication at the EUROGEO 2015 conference. The European Journal of Geography (EJG) publishes at least one issue each year on the conference theme, which for 2015 is "Communicating Geography". EJG is an international, peer reviewed open access, free to download publication. The Journal is based on the European Association of Geographers’ goal to make European Geography a worldwide reference and standard. The deadline for articles for the conference issue (only via the journal web site) is July 15 2015. More
