Latest Geographical News

This is the latest newsletter of the European Association of Geographers (EUROGEO). This month, stories include the Geography at Work conference, becoming part of Geo4All and the publication of the INSPIRE GWF Report,  Other news stories include a Citizen Science survey, GeoCapabilities and the EcoCity summit, ocean literacy news and some free to access journals. Geography at work conference
EGEA-Alumni in cooperation with EUROGEO invites all geographers to the conference Geography at Workin Baarlo, The Netherlands. Participants are invited to present in parallel sessions (e.g. academic research, education, public institutions, GIS, corporate business). There will be keynote speakers, round tables, training, fieldwork and networking sessions. INSPIRE-GWF Report 

The report of the INSPIRE-Geospatial World Forum has been published.This was a collaboration between the European Commission & Geospatial Media and Communications. The report is based on the five-day long conference attended by over 1700 delegates from 104 countries, cutting across geospatial companies, user industries, government representatives and senior academia. EUROGEO is a member of Geo4All, you can join at http://www.geoforall.org/  The mission is "Making geospatial education and opportunities accessible to all". EcoCity World Summit  

The Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) is pleased to announce the next Ecocity World Summit (ECWS) to be hosted in Abu Dhabi from 11-13 October 2015. The event is the longest running conference for ecological city design, development and functioning in the world. Find out more and register 

Free Journal Access

Publishers are offering free access to journals: Routledge with the NCGE on their centenary, offer 100 free articles. For Taylor and Francis, open access environment journals are available and MDG research articles. The European Journal of Geography is open access at http://www.eurogeography.eu 

Citizen Science Survey  

The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), is undertaking an international survey of interoperability arrangements, hosting and data management practices of Citizen Science projects around the world. The aim is to insight into Citizen Science projects and best practice. Deadline to participate is 31 August, The aim is to provide invaluable information and insight into Citizen Science projects and best practice. Take the Survey!

Ocean literacy: EUROGEO is a partner in the SeaChange H2020 Project. As part of this activity we provide you with the latest project news and marine science and ocean policy stories  
The GeoCapabilities Project will create a training course for teachers as leaders in Geography curriculum making. It will be presented at the IGU and EUGEO conferences this month. Visit the GeoCapabilities Web site to see videos, read papers and find out the latest news.  

Eye On Earth Competitions
