EUROGEO Conference 2015 

"Communicating Geography: serving our world" 21-22 May 2015



The 2015 EUROGEO Annual Meeting and Conference will be organised in conjunction with and hosted by the Turkish Association of Geographers (TAG), in Ankara on 21-22 May 2015. An optional field excursion to Cappadocia will take place all day on 23 May 2015. Call for sessions and abstracts published. More

Communicating Geography 

Call for abstracts
We invite contributors from all areas of the discipline and related subjects to submit abstracts for oral presentations, hands-on workshops and posters at our 2015 Annual meeting. The conference theme is "Communicating Geography: serving our world", though abstracts relating to other areas will also be welcome.

Action4Climate Competition

The Action4Climate competition inspired young directors from around the world to send in their climate change stories. More than 230 entries from 70 countries were received, showing a new world of climate impacts, solutions and actions. Connect4Climate is a campaign, a coalition, and a community that cares about climate change. http://action4climate.org/about

Alpine Summer School

Issue 3 European Journal of Geography download now  

Issue 3 of the European Journal of Geography has been published and is free to download. The Journal now on Scopus, s based on the European Association of Geographers’ goal to make European Geography a worldwide reference and standard. The latest issue contains seven articles on historical analysis, wildfire risk assessment, location analysis, social perception, communicating climate change, catchment approaches and Belgrade tourism. More

Geo For All Update 

EUROGEO is a member of the 'Geo For All' initiative. Just 3 years ago Prof. Georg Gartner and Arnulf Christl  signed the MoU for this important activity.  It has been growing at a rapid rate.  Download the overview slides for Geo For All. More

Geo- World Record Event This Week 

Next week the Geography record week starts. Lots more schools have signed up recently so there are  almost 24,000 students in over 160 schools worldwide!  More 

IGBP e-Bulletin 

News includes Future Earth global hubs. The five global hubs for the ten-year initiative Future Earth met in Stockholm 20-22 October to develop plans for the new programme. The meeting coincided with IGBP's Officers' Meeting also in Stockholm. The two groups met to discuss managing the transition to Future EarthMore

Geo-Edu Research: Response Needed

The draft Declaration focuses on research in geography education and elucidates the reasons for this, and who and what it covers.  It relates to pre-school, schools and post-school (including higher education) levels.  Hence it uses a common style of terminology, to be inclusive. Documents and description are available on the CGE website, accessed via the box in the top right corner: http://www.igu-cge.org/
The deadline for feedback is February 28th, 2015, sent to Simon Catling sjcatling@brookes.ac.uk.  

Why, Where Matters? 

EUROGEO Members GeoEconomy have published "Why 'Where' Matters". This book examines why geospatial perspectives and geography matters. The tag line is "Practical Advice for Individuals, Communities, Companies and Countries.". How to get the book 

ISSOTL 

International Collaborative Writing Groups 2015 (ICWG2015)
As part of the ISSOTL 2015 Conference hosted in Melbourne Australia, colleagues are invited to apply to participate in a year-long international collaborative writing group. Topics are concerned with the scholarship of: student employability, work and practice-based learning, inclusive teaching and learning, assessment in the digital age, the flipped classroom, the student learning process and supporting new academics in teaching and learning. More
