Creating Opportunities for Equity Contractors

Earlier this month, Portland City Council approved the $17,989,637 guaranteed maximum price from our Construction Manager/General Contractor, MWH Constructors Inc, to build improved corrosion control treatment that will make our water less corrosive to lead found in home and building plumbing.

To help deliver on Portland’s equity and inclusion contracting policy, MWH is committing 26% of hard construction costs—more than $2 million—to firms certified by the state’s Certification Office for Business Inclusion and Diversity, and dedicating 31% of apprentice-level and 28% of journey-level labor hours to people of color and women in the construction industry.

About the Bull Run Treatment Projects

To comply with federal Safe Drinking Water Act regulations, the Portland Water Bureau (PWB) is building a water filtration facility, new pipelines, and an improved corrosion control treatment facility.
