For many years, I have been on the road talking about the death penalty to anyone who will listen. That is about to change, at least for a time.

At the end of October I will be heading into a writing retreat in order to complete my third book. I won't be abandoning my efforts to end the death penalty. Far from it! I hope that this book I am writing, a spiritual memoir called River of Fire, will spur more people to action, as my earlier books did.

While I am writing, I plan to stay in close touch with the currents surrounding the movement to abolish the death penalty and I would like to stay in touch with you, too, through Facebook.

I know that many of you who read this newsletter are not yet members of my Facebook community. I would like that to change. I admit that I had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into the world of social media, but during our campaign last year to save the life of Richard Glossip I witnessed the truly extraordinary, life-giving work we can do through Facebook and Twitter. That is why I want to encourage you to step into this new communal space with me.

It is through my Facebook community that I will share thoughts, news, videos, calls to action and peeks into my writing world. I want you there with me - I need you there with me - to help carry on the work of ending the death penalty.

We will continue to publish this newsletter, but it is in my Facebook community that you'll find the beating heart of the work I do. The work we do together.
