Wait, what's the "I"?

In our first three issues of The Diversity Drop, we are exploring the D, the E, and the I, in DEI. Our final word is Inclusion.

Inclusion is about more than just tolerating differences. Inclusion fosters an environment where all individuals are treated fairly and respectfully, having equal access to opportunities and resources, with the ability to contribute fully. While diversity refers to the traits and characteristics that make people unique, inclusion refers to the behaviors and social norms that ensure ALL people feel welcome!

The Diversity Drop is a weekly newsletter developed and distributed by the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management at Iowa State University. The goal of the newsletter is to advance the knowledge and understanding that will enable us to build a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive department, institution, and profession.
