Celebrating Ramadan

Today, Tuesday April 13th, marks the first day of a month of fasting and spiritual practice for Muslim people called Ramadan. The 29-30 day annual period is one of five pillars of Islam during which able-bodied Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset each day. The end of Ramadan is celebrated with a major Islamic holiday called Eid al-Fitr, which starts on the evening of May 12th this year.
