Help us plan your 2023 teen programs and events by sharing your thoughts and opinions in this short survey. Tell your friends! This survey will remain open through January 30.

Society for the Appreciation of Manga & Anime (SAMA)
Join us on January 30 from 4:30-6pm for the first SAMA meeting of 2023! Grades 6 -12 will play BINGO for manga and anime-related prizes, enjoy snacks, and decorate a mug with oil-based markers.

Registration is encouraged but not required.

We have ordered a whole bunch of new manga and graphic novels! Stay up to date on all new titles that will be added in January and February. Place items on hold or stop in and browse the new shelf in the YA Area.

Did you know our Teen Makerspace has board games, coloring crafts, and more for you to use while you're in the library? Visit the circular shelving in the back corner to see the rotating options.

The Teen Makerspace's wreath making project is winding downVisit the YA Area and craft your own with mini wreathes with ribbon, pinecones, and more. These super cute mini-wreathes would make excellent winter decorations for yourself or as a gift for a friend.

If you do not have time to make a wreath in the library please ask a librarian for a teen Take & Make bag, while supplies last. We are running very low! Stop in soon.

2022 YA Collection 
 
Seeing ourselves, our neighbors, and the global community in the media we consume leads to many positive outcomes. Diversity in literature broadens horizons, pushes back bias and prejudice, builds community, and increases our self-awareness and acceptance.

CFPL is proud of the diverse and varied collection of YA materials that we purchase for you and the community. Continue reading more about what was purchased in 2022 in the below infographic.

"Lived Experiences. 68 titles were created by authors and illustrators who are from historically marginalized communities based on their skin color, national origin, religion, gender beyond the binary, sexual orientation, and/or disability. These titles feature characters and stories that reflect or share the lived experiences of the books' creators." "Race, Ethnicity &  National Origin.These books have characters who are Black, Caribbean, Latinx, Mexican, Asian, Pacific-Oceanian, Native, Middle Eastern, Indian, biracial, and/or multiracial. "Neurodivergency & Mental Health. "Socio-Economics. Characters in 45 titles live in socio-economic situations such as poverty or transitional housing. They may also have parents and guardians who are unemployed or underemployed." "Body Diversity & Physical Health. 52 titles have primary or secondary characters who are Deaf, Blind, use mobility aids, live with chronic pain, or live with another physical or health condition. Self-love and body positivity are important. We also purchased titles where characters' diverse and varied bodies are celebrated and accepted." ""ADDITIONALLY: 30+ titles have characters with a non-Christian background or religion. 40+ titles have characters who are LGBTQIA++. 65+ titles have characters who live in a non-nuclear family or other relationship structure. 15+ titles include storylines about first or second generation immigrants or refugees. "
