Welcome to February! I hope that your year has started off well?  Summer is in full swing here in Sydney and I have been trying to make the most of it, exploring our new home and I have to say, Australia does beaches very well!

All of this beach exploring has given me the opportunity to catch up on my reading (I love Audible) and reflect on my own healthy habits to make sure they continue to serve me well through 2017.  

I’ve also finally managed to get all of my health tracking devices to talk to each other!  In practise, that means that my day starts by stepping onto my Withings scale and my weight, body fat percentage, heart rate, body temperature is sent to me via the HealthMate app which also now brings in my activity and nutrition data. Pretty cool! Lots more to tell you about this, but we'll keep this for next time.

For today, though, I want to tell you about my latest love affair.

Bottles of kombuchaIt's a healthy habit that is so easy to implement, doesn’t cost a fortune and promises to deliver fantastic results in terms of increased energy, better skin and better sleep. Sounds good? Not only that, but it can also help you reduce the amount of processed sugar you’re consuming.

The target of my affections is Kombucha, a fermented tea that's packed full of nutrients. It’s a drink that has been around for centuries, but is once again gaining popularity as science and ancient wisdom increasingly come together. Here in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, kombucha is available everywhere and we (ie. Heather) has spent the last couple of months perfecting our own recipe so that we now have it on tap. What can I say?  It’s now my beverage of choice, and has, I believe, really helped me rebuild my own energy reserves after quite a challenging 2016.
