Reframing your View
I really struggled last week.

A severe case of jet lag, the fallout from the UK general election, a pile of work and a whole range of local challenges all combined to use up more energy reserves than I had available. Quite unlike me, but then I am only human! Fortunately Australia celebrated the Queen’s birthday by giving us all a public holiday, which is just what I needed to ‘fill the pot’ and get my body back into balance.


So I’m now feeling fully rested and ready to embrace everything life has to offer!
We were back in the UK in May, and it was great landing at Heathrow and being able to see London through the eyes of a tourist, completely reframing my view of the city that I have lived in my entire life (barring the past 6 months)!  

Sometimes you need to go away to appreciate things – and London is one great city.
Whilst there, I managed to catch up with so many people and meet lots of new people too. We spent time in and around London, Brighton and Bournemouth, delivered 5 wellness talks, went on a healthy food trends tour of London (what a food geek I am, especially the healthy variety!), attended the launch of the UK Health Coach Association (of which I am a founder member), attended a mediation weekend in Bournemouth, had a personal training session at the “Bodyism” London club and even managed to fit in the Vitality 10k which went past some of the most iconic buildings in London.  
We also spent a few hours on a luxury yacht with our business coach Lucy, something I’ve been reluctant to do until I felt I had the space to take action on her advice. It was a great session, and coach Lucy validated our direction of travel and helped us reframe our challenges and see them as opportunities. It was incredibly energising and one of the big outputs was refining my Raw Energy model which now has five pillars instead of seven:
The Raw Energy model is still underpinned by the philosophy that ENERGY is the main output of a healthy lifestyle, and it shows the five types of energy that contribute to our health and wellbeing. All of our coaching, consulting and offerings link into this model and I’ll be telling you more about this in due course.
 
So today’s post fits into the Physical Energy pillar and is from my wife and guest blogger, Heather Mitchell. Book club

I haven’t read too many new books recently, but one book that I’m nearly finished is Grit: The Power of Passion & Perseverance by Angela Duckworth. It’s a great read, drawing on a lot of empirical evidence to challenge many pre-conceived beliefs about natural vs. learned talent.
