October Artwalk,
Friday, October 7, 6-9:30 pm
Saturday, October 8, 11 am - 4 pm

Well, Summer is waning and it's time for cooler nights and the October ArtWalk in the Village of the Arts. October always marks the Beginning of the Season for the Village. New galleries  are opening and our favorite restaurants are reopening after a September hiatus. Birdrock Taco has expanded its menu and music will fill the Village! Come on out and explore!

Be sure to stop by Hearts Desire and see all the new fashions for Fall. Tie dyed is still really popular; off the shoulder, animal prints and faux furs are big this season. As in the past HD has some lovely handpainted sweater vests from Adore of LA. Also several styles of dresses. See below for some of the exciting clothing styles available for you!  Discover your artistic expression at Hearts Desire!

Hearts Desire Celebrates 10 Years

Mark Your Calendars! November 4, 6-9 pm
Stop by for cake and champagne as Hearts Desire celebrates its 10th anniversary at the November ArtWalk. Festivities will be in the Bamboo Garden, but come prepared to shop too. There will be great sales opportunities!

It is hard to believe that a decade has passed as Hearts Desire has gone through some significant changes but still remains dedicated to its core mission. . . providing exciting wearable-art fashions and accessories for the discerning fashionistas in the area and, now with an internet shopping site, across the nation!

It will be an evening of great fun because it is also the Village of the Arts Annual Festival of the Skeletons celebration! One of the Village's most popular weekends. This Day of the Dead-inspired event features a community shrine dedicated to a deceased artist, individual shrines and altars throughout the Village, Mexican food, a memorial fence, skeleton crafts, strolling skeletons and more.

Exploring the Wonders of the U.S. National Parks
2016 marks the 100 year anniversary of the establishment of the national park system in our country. James and I decided to take a week in September to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary to visit three of them: Mesa Verde in Colorado, Arches and Canyon Lands in Utah. We quickly found out that we needed much more time to explore the beauty of these areas. We hiked, took off-road jeep rides, climbed up and down mountains to ancient First Peoples ruins and magnificent sandstone structures worn by water and wind, learned so much about the ancient cultures of our land. The West is amazing! I can't wait to return!

A National Fashion Statement!

Hearts Desire often gets positive feedback from clients about how much they love their clothing and how many compliments they receive when they wear them.

Admiring ladies will visit the store as a result of these encounters. But this month was a bonus month . . . I got 3 online orders for the popular Vintage Vogue Palazzo Pants. . .one from Sarasota, one from Vermont and one from Colorado!

The Vogue pants are designed by Omdaya, a small design house in Miami. I love these pants from a comfort as well as a graphic arts standpoint!

Author and artist Donna Gauntlet is featured here beside a red lighthouse in Michigan in another style called the Vintage Vogue Photo Palazzo Pants. There is also a black and white photo montage in this style.
Exciting event in Asheville. . .I will be the main designer for the "Jewels of the River Arts District." I have been working for the last several months designing jewelry featuring glass, ceramic and raku pendants and beads created by artists from the River Arts District. You are all invited!
