Fall in Freeway Park is magical! Have you seen the larches in their full golden glory? Have you seen the fallen maple leaves perfectly framed against the dappled concrete? The color is coming slowly to the park this year but every day we see more and more so get yourself over here before you miss the show :)
With a full team for the first time in a long time, FPA is planning lots of special fall and winter programming. A doggy costume contest?! Our first ever illuminated art installation and free coffee/tea at the book-carts coming soon. See you out there!
Fall Lantern Festival was a beautiful autumn night in Freeway Park. We collected a great number of donations from community members, enjoyed fresh empanadas from Rapa Nui Foods, seasonal donuts from Half & Half Doughnuts and live music from multiple local musicians. Pasquale, Garlic Gulch Boys, and Judd Wasserman, you activated the park perfectly whilst we enjoyed the glow of the lanterns above.
A special thanks goes out to the volunteers! Your support helped to make Fall Fest run smoothly. And of course to our resident artist, Carrie Barnes, who led Painting Parties in the park months leading up to the festival, and who put together each lantern by hand (even after the glue gun tried to stop her), we cannot give you enough appreciation and love.
Be sure to check out our Flickr page to download photos taken by Al Fann Photography! They brought a new light to the park we hope you enjoy, because we sure did. Until next year...

more equitable programming for our community!
