President's Message

Aloha Chamber members:

BUILDING BUSINESS is one of the Chamber’s four areas of focus, under which fall networking events and seminars, the Young Professionals (YP) program, Hawaii on the Hill initiative and Laulima Partnerships with our Neighbor Island Chambers.

We kicked-off 2017 with the Laulima Partnership, our newest initiative, which includes Hawaii Island, Kona-Kohala, Molokai and Kauai Chambers, to strengthen the “Voice of Business” and work more collaboratively with businesses across the state.

We are ramping up our preparations for Hawaii on the Hill, June 13-14, 2017, for which we are projecting more participants and record attendance in Washington, D.C., and for our Annual Membership Luncheon in July, which draws approximately 1,000 attendees.

April will be a busy month with the YP Exec Connect luncheon and Anniversary Party, Step into Spring networking event at Tiki’s Bar and Grill, Business After Hours at the new Hyatt Centric Waikiki, FocusOn seminar on Small BIZ Marketing Tools, and Employment Law Update in partnership with Torkildson, Katz, Moore, Hetherington & Harris.

The Chamber encourages you to regularly check out our events listing on the Chamber’s website, where members also have the opportunity to post their own events. For more information on this benefit, please email our communications and marketing team.

Laulima & mahalo,

Sherry Menor-McNamara
President & CEO
Many hands working together in collaboration and striving for a common goal.

Military Affairs

Apply for MAC Fellowship Program
The Military Affairs Council (MAC) is again offering a fellowship opportunity to Chamber members this summer – May-September 2017.

In its second year, the purpose of this program is to provide members with a greater understanding about the MAC’s mission to promote, preserve and protect the military presence in Hawaii, as well as the significant role the MAC plays in supporting the state’s military economy.

Fellows will have the unique opportunity to attend MAC meetings and briefings, participate in visits to military sites and engage with military leaders at MAC events.

The fellowship will require that candidates are a representative of an organization that is a Chamber member in good standing, agree to attend at least one MAC meeting or event each month during the duration of the program (5 total) and develop a report that summarizes the entirety of his or her experience. Additionally, selected candidates will be required to pay $350 to cover costs associated with their participation.

Interested candidates should email Natasha Inouye. Space is limited and acceptance into the program is on a case-by-case basis. We hope you will apply for this unique opportunity! View the fellowship flyer.
