President's Message

Aloha Chamber Members,

As the leading advocate for the business community, the Chamber believes it is important to regularly communicate the pulse of business in our state to our members, and to the broader community.
This is why, beginning Tuesday, September 8, the Chamber is launching our Voice of Business radio segment on KHVH's Rick Hamada Show. While we partnered with this show several years back, we are reprogramming the purpose and content, and returning every Tuesday from 8:00-8:30am.
This weekly segment will feature an update from the Chamber team and other topical business news of interest. We will also invite members to join as guests on the show to showcase and discuss some of their products/services that are benefitting our state.
Please join us and listen in on our kick-off show on September 8. Mahalo for the support and for investing in your Chamber.

Laulima & mahalo,
Sherry Menor-McNamara

President & CEO

Veterans Economic Communities Initiative Launches Sept. 8

In July, the Chamber and the Military Affairs Council (MAC) participated in a Veterans Employer Roundtable with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Robert A. McDonald. The VA recently announced a partnership with communities across the country to assist Veterans and their families get better integrated into their communities. Honolulu was selected as one of the initial 25 communities that have been called upon to work with the VA to implement its Veterans Economic Communities Initiative (VECI) to bring the community together to create employment opportunities for Veterans.

The VA will be officially launching VECI in Honolulu on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Queen’s Conference Center (1301 Punchbowl Street). The Mayor’s Office and Queen’s Health Systems will be on hand to encourage employers to come together to discuss ways that Honolulu can help service members transition to the civilian workforce.
