President's Message

Aloha Chamber members:

We are proud to announce that we have reached our goal of doubling our membership to 2,017 members in 2017! We sincerely thank each one of our 2,017 member organizations who join us in our mission to support and build business in Hawaii.
In 2014, the Chamber set this ambitious goal of doubling our membership. The larger our membership, the more we can do to support our members and strengthen the pillars of a healthy economy: building a better business climate, building business opportunities, spurring economic development and enhancing the quality of life.

We have planned several activities to commemorate this milestone, including: social media giveaways. Follow us on Instagram and Like us on Facebook to participate. We’re also launching a campaign today to collect 2,017 pounds of rice for the Hawaii Foodbank. We invite you to drop off your rice donations at our office at 1132 Bishop, bring your donation with you to our events or drop them off on Friday, April 28 at Tamarind Park. Check out our flyer for more information on this drive and giveaways, including a portable wireless speaker for the first five people who donate 25 pounds of rice.

Our efforts to grow will not stop here, however. We will continue to seek opportunities for growth and to drive the vision for a healthier economy and state.

A special thank you to our Laulima Partnership members from our neighbor island Chambers including Hawaii Island, Kauai, Kona-Kohala and Molokai, all of whom helped us achieve this goal. Their support and participation are critical to the success of our advocacy efforts across the state so that, together, we can help businesses succeed and thrive.

Finally, I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude to our board of directors, Young Professionals, and our stellar team. Through teamwork, collaboration and support, we have grown to 2,017 members in 2017.

Laulima & mahalo,

Sherry Menor-McNamara

Military Affairs

MAC’s Quarterly Briefing Breakfast – April 24th

The Chamber’s Military Affairs Council (MAC) will be hosting its first Quarterly Briefing Breakfast on Monday, April 24th at the Plaza Club from 7:30 am to 9:00 am. Guest speaker will be Lt. General David H. Berger, Commanding General of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific.

As a nation, we are facing evolving and escalating challenges in the Indo-Asia-Pacific Theater. It is becoming increasingly critical that the U.S. military be forward-deployed both ashore and afloat with the ability to quickly position our combat-ready forces throughout region.

As the service component assigned to U.S. Pacific Command, Marine Corps Forces, is the largest field command in the U.S. Marine Corps with units positioned in Hawaii, Australia and Japan.

Join us for an in-depth discussion with Lt. General Bergerabout potential increases in defense spending and how they could impact Hawaii; the current status of basing Marines in Guam and Okinawa; and the challenges the Marine Corps faces in the Pacific.

MAC members are complimentary. For more information, view the event flyer, to RSVP, please click here.
