President's Message

Happy Holidays!

As we enter the holiday season, the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii is busily preparing for the 2016 Legislative Session. During the session’s opening week, the Chamber will host its 3rd Annual Chamber Week, January 19-22, to engage members and the local business community in the legislative process and keep them informed of important issues and the Chamber’s business advocacy activities. We’re pleased to announce that The Hawaii Group is returning as Premier Sponsor for Chamber Week and we look forward to their partnership.
Chamber members and all members of the business community are invited to participate in Chamber Week’s schedule of events and bring a collective voice of business to our state legislators. The Chamber will, once again, be introducing a pro-business package this session in support of lowering the cost of doing businesses, spurring economic development and investing in the future of Hawaii.
The week kicks off on January 19 with a Legislative 101 Class where attendees learn how the legislative process works, how to get involved and utilize resources that are available to use their legislative voice. Chamber Week also features a State of the Economy forecast and opportunities for participants to meet with legislators and share their thoughts and concerns about business in Hawaii through our Walk Around at the Capitol and Legislative Meet and Greet events, among others.

With the recent court decision on TMT and other pressing issues, now, more than ever, we need the business community to stand together with one voice and engage in the Chamber’s activities.

Laulima & mahalo,
Sherry Menor-McNamara

President & CEO

MAC Inaugural Holiday Reception

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, the Military Affairs Council (MAC) of the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii hosted its inaugural holiday reception. The event was held at the Aloha Tower Marketplace's Waterfront Lanai and served as a thank you to all of the many individuals who helped the MAC have a successful 2015.

In attendance were distinguished guests, including Pacific Air Forces Commander General Lori Robinson and Marine Corps Forces Pacific Commanding General Lieutenant General John Toolan.
Unfortunately, MAC Chair David Carey was unable to attend, but Dennis Gibson of Booz Allen Hamilton and member of the MAC leadership, provided remarks that highlighted the many accomplishments of the organization during the year.
A special thanks goes out to Dr. Geoff Bannister, HPU President, for providing the wonderful venue. We hope that you will be able to join us next year.
