Join us in advocating for our schools!

I am writing to invite you to join me and others at Los Angeles Unified as we advocate to our state representatives to support Governor Newsom’s budget proposals which prioritize the needs of low-income students at school districts with high concentrations of poverty.

Specifically, we encourage your support of additional funding for high-poverty concentration districts to lower class size, expand after school enrichment and summer school for all K-6 grade students.

Email Subject Line: Support for Governor’s State Budget Education Equity Proposals

Hello, My name is _____ and I am an  _____ (Los Angeles Unified School District parent, student, staff or organization’s name) and I am CALLING/WRITING to urge you (state Legislator’s name if you call) to support the additional funding proposed by the Governor for high-poverty LCFF concentration districts in the final state budget package.

This will help lower class size, expand after school enrichment and summer school for all K-6 grade students is in the final state budget package.

We urge the Legislature to adopt the Governor’s version instead of diluting the funding as proposed by the Assembly and Senate because concentrated poverty disproportionately affects students of color & affects school-wide achievement.

[OPTIONAL: SHARE YOUR STORY in one or two sentences.]

I urge the Legislature to adopt the Governor’s proposals that will make a difference in the lives of our children in high-poverty concentration districts who have hurdles to climb and need additional academic support and enrichment opportunities to thrive in school and life.

Thank you for considering this important issue.
