The 11th Annual Bonny Doon Art & Wine Festival

I am pleased to announce my participation this year in The Bonny Doon Art and Wine Festival.   The festival is the main fund-raising event for The Bonny Doon Community School Foundation, which raises moneytosupportprograms at Bonny Doon Community School.  It is a non-profit organization compiled of parents, community volunteers, teachers and school board members, all collectively working together for a common goal: quality child education.

I will have a large selection of framed work in addition to beautifully matted prints in a variety of sizes ready to frame, plus a wide range of note cards which can be purchased separately or as boxed sets, with a percentage of all my sales going to the organization.

The festival takes place on Saturday, June 22nd from 1:00pm - 6:00pm at the beautiful Vinge Farms and Equestrian Center in Santa Cruz.  The all-inclusive ticket to this over 21 event features unlimited wine tasting, live and silent auctions, gourmet food, artist demonstrations and sales, beer tasting, live music and much more.  What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

California Sea Lion Pup released by The Marine Mammal Center

Marine Mammal Center Pup Release!

My involvement in local wildlife organizations is one of the things that drives me to get out there and photograph the amazing creatures that inhabit  my area.  My hope is the images will evoke an emotional response in the viewer that will inspire them to get involved in conservation.

As a Kellen Circle Member with The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, CA, I have the benefit of being invited to select private releases of their patients as they are returned to the wild.  I recently had the added bonus of seeing and releasing "Deely" a stranded harbor seal pup I had come across and help rescue at Elkhorn Slough in early April.

Snow Leopard Conservancy Annual Fundraiser

The Snow Leopard Conservancy 2013 Annual Fundraiser

This was my first year as a vendor at The Snow Leopard Conservancy's Annual Fundraiser.  Held at The Janet Pomeroy Center in San Francisco, it drew a large number of attendees and donors.  Guest speakers included Broughton Coburn, author of The Vast Unknown: America's First Ascent of Everest and a traditional Oaxacan ceremony performed by Ernesto Olmas.

The Snow Leopard is highly endangered and are only found in the high mountainous areas of central Asia.  There may be only 4.500 - 7,500 remaining in the wild with up to a third of the snow leopards range falling along international borders, some of which are politically sensitive, thereby complicating trans-boundary conservation initiatives.

The Snow Leopard Conservancy however is making huge strides in protecting this beautiful, elusive cat and with 40% of my sales donated to their cause, I am proud to say I was able to make a worthy contribution.
The Triton Museum 2013 Statewide Photography Exhibit

Triton Museum of Art Statewide Photography Exhibit

My image of a solitary American Oystercatcher amid a flurry of other shorebirds was among 75 selected out of 600 entries juried by the curators of  the Triton Museum of Art for their annual statewide photography exhbit and competition.

Due to the tremendous response and popularity of last year's competition and exhibit, the Triton Museum of Art once again hosted this amazing showcase of some of the best photography in our state and I am honored to have been one of the artists selected.  The exhibit runs from April 16th - June 23rd.
