Call for Authors
A book festival will be held in conjunction with the Deep Valley Homecoming. Click here for application. Early bird author registration deadline is April 15th. Final deadline is May 15. A complete list of authors attending will be available after May 15th.

Special Guests
Melissa Wiley
Author of The Prairie Thief, Fox and Crow Are Not Friends, and the Inch and Roly series, as well as Little House in the Highlands and seven other novels about the ancestors of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Melissa wrote the foreward to the HarperPerennial ModernClassics 2010 edition of Carney’s House Party and Winona’s Pony Cart by Maud Hart Lovelace. Melissa lives in California. More about Melissa.

Nancy McCabe 
Author of From Little Houses to Little Women. Her book is a memoir about her return to the beloved books of her childhood and travel to places related to her favorite authors, including Maud Hart Lovelace, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Lucy Maud Montgomery and Louisa May Alcott. Nancy lives in Pennsylvania. More about Nancy.

Maud Hixson
A longtime fan of Maud Hart Lovelace, Maud will sing a selection of songs from the Betsy-Tacy books accompanied by her husband Rick Carlson on the piano. A singer of classic jazz and popular songs of the 20th century, Hixson is from St. Paul, Minnesota. More about Maud.
Family Fun!
Enjoy a horse-drawn trolley ride through the historic Betsy-Tacy neighborhood narrated by costumed living history actors. Did you know Mankato (Deep Valley) had horse-drawn trolleys when Maud was a child? 

Homecoming attendees of all ages are welcome to come dressed in costume for any of the events. “One of their favorite games was dressing up.” Betsy-Tacy

We'll kick off the Deep Valley Homecoming with registration, dinner, a special program and music at the historic Kato Ballroom, which has a rich music history. Over the years it has hosted thousands of great bands and individual entertainers
