Season Greetings from Vasa, Finland

The year is coming to an end and it is time to recap some of what has happend at Hogia over the past 12 months.

2015 has been a good year for us. Our team of staff at Hogia Ferry Systems has grown by 4 people. Meri Rigby, Johan Stolpe, Andreas Kastrén and Ossian Beukelman have joined us, and a further 21 people have joined the Hogia group, which brings the total to 600 employees worldwide.

We have signed contracts with 2 more clients this autumn; one in Australia and the other one in northern Europe. Both are live with BOOKIT today.

Hogia turned 35 years in September and Bert-Inge Hogsved, our owner and CEO, was kind enough to invite us all to Gothenburg to an extraordinary event to celebrate.
A few days later we arranged our annual BOOKIT Conference in Stenungsund, Sweden. We feel our conference was a great success and we are looking forward to meeting all our clients and partners in London next year.

We hope that you will find this newsletter interesting. If you would like more information about what you read, please don't hesitate to contact us at aftersales@hogia.fi.

We wish you a wonderful New Year and a prosperous 2016!

Kindest regards, Hogia Ferry Systems
Welcome Riverside Marine and Fantasea Cruising Magnetic
In the last newsletter we told you about a new client in Australia but didn't mention any names. We are now happy to tell you a bit more about who they are.

In September we signed with Riverside Marine, an Australian company with headquarters in Brisbane. BOOKIT is used by their division Fantasea Cruising Magnetic who operates a ferry service between Townsville and Magnetic Island. To read more about Riverside Marine please visit their website by clicking here or to get more information about Fantasea Cruising Magnetic click here.

The entire project was implemented in only a few months and they went live in November.

Easier travel with common bus and ferry information system
Passengers travelling with Red Funnel are now able to keep track of both ferries and connecting bus services via one single information system - Hogia TIMS.

Red Funnel have been using TIMS since 2014 and it has helped Red Funnel to distribute timely and reliable travel information regarding ferry services to its passengers. Now an addition has been made so that the solution also include the connecting bus services from the arrival ports. Passengers can benefit from correct, consistent and harmonised multi-modal travel information covering their needs before, during and after their journey.

TIMS is developed and maintained by Hogia Public Transport Systems and it provides passengers with consistent multi-modal travel information in real-time, thereby making their everyday life easier, even during times of service deviation and disruption.

TIMS and BOOKIT are integrated; ferry timetables and changes to the same are transferred from BOOKIT to TIMS. This means less administration as it only requires single entry of departure information.

Red Funnel have been using BOOKIT since 2007.
Bay Ferries wins bid
Bay Ferries have been chosen as the preferred bidder for the service between Portland and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Bay Ferries have previously operated the service with the Cat, a high-speed ferry, until canceling the service on Dec. 18, 2009, after the provincial government refused to continue its subsidy.

Mark MacDonald, CEO of Bay Ferries, said in a written statement that he’s pleased the province has selected his company. “We understand the importance of this gateway to the province and want to work with the province in rebuilding this key transportation corridor,” he said.

The reason to why Bay Ferries is the preferred bidder, according to Geoff MacLellan, Nova Scotia's minister of transportation, was due to Bay Ferries' experience, expertise and understanding of the market. He said there is no final decision on what kind of vessel Bay Ferries will use, but he is confident that MacDonald is up to the task, even though it’s a “risky” decision to take on the new route.

He also continued by saying "Bay Ferries Limited has the experience, expertise, industry relationships and much of the operational infrastructure already in place, such as a reservations system, that would allow them to hit the ground running. There will be a service out of Yarmouth for 2016."

Bay Ferries have been using BOOKIT since 2005.

Real time passenger information for the subway in Stockholm
Hogia Public Transport Systems have been providing real time passenger information for busses in Stockholm for some time and are now working on the same kind of solution for the subway.

The idea with the solution for the subway is to provide accurate and real time passenger information throughout various information channels; information signs on platforms, travel planners, web sites etc.

TIMS will be used to report about disruptions and deviations
to passengers.
