Hello from Vasa, Finland!

Spring is here! We almost gave up hope this year as we kept getting more and more snow, got some as late as last week. Thankfully now most of the snow has melted and spring flowers are starting to emerge from the frozen and partly snow covered land. This is by far my favorite time of the year, summer isn't here yet but it won't be long now.

We are keeping busy in Vasa, lots to do right now. Many of you are getting close to the high season and need assistance from us. The 2017-R2 release is almost done and will be out mid-April. We are in the testing phase right now.

Our sales team is busier than ever and travelling all over the world. In the next newsletter I hope that we will have some exciting news for you!

Below you can read what we at Hogia are up to and also news about our customers. We hope you will find it interesting!

Warmest regards, Hogia Ferry Systems

View of Smådalarö Gård where the conference will be held this year.

The highlight of the year, the conference you just can't afford to miss, is getting closer. This year we will be in Stockholm, Sweden. The conference hotel, Smådalarö Gård, is beautifully located in the archipelago so we will be surrounded by water, wonderful nature, and a 9-hole golf course.

The conference offers you the possibility to interact with ferry operators from around the world, share ideas and thoughts and of course listen to interesting presentations done by either us, our customers or partners. A site visit to Destination Gotland's terminal in Nynäshamn, to see their new fully automated check-in process for passengers, is also on the agenda.

The invitation has already been sent to all our customers and partners. If you for some reason have not received an invitation, please contact Maria at After Sales so she can sort it out.

Destination Gotland are going live with their fully automated passenger check-in service in April. This is an exciting and busy time for them and of course, also for us. It has been a very interesting project and we are enthusiastic about seeing it live soon. Destination Gotland are using passenger gates from Gunnebo and kiosks from Gordion, provided by mikmek. If you are attending the BOOKIT Conference this year you will get the chance to see it all live.

This year's Shippax Conference will be held onboard Grandi Navi Veloci's La Superba, sailing between Civitavecchia, Palermo and Civitavecchia, April 5-7 and we will of course be there. Hogia is this year represented by Niclas Blomström, Meri Rigby, Jennie Hinz and Richard Emm. If you are attending this year, please look them up to say hi.

The Hogia Group is doing well, better than ever before. The results for 2016 have been finalized and turnover was 539 million SEK and result was 32 million SEK. The number of employees increased by 30 so we are now 625 in total. However all this success won't allow us to rest on our laurels, we will continue to invest in the future, full force ahead. By 2020 we expect to increase personnel by at least another 100 people. To read an article about this exiting time (in Swedish) please click here.

Hogia Ferry Systems is also showing a positive result for 2016 and have been awarded the certificate of lowest credit risk by Bisnode. Bisnode represents the Dun & Bradstreet brand.
Hogia Academy
As Hogia AB is growing, we have a constant need for new skilled developers and we have noticed that there is a shortage of just that kind of people. That is why Hogia has joined forces with Academic Work and will offer intensive training to 10 people who want to become a developer for Hogia.
The intensive training is done according to the Accelerated Learning model which entails practical training in a speedy pace. It is Academic Work who will take care of the application process, and they are looking for people who have the ability to learn new things quickly and have a developer's mindset.
