Perspectives COVID-19 Update
Dear Perspectives Family,
In the spirit of communicating effectively, I write with an update regarding Perspectives’ response to the novel COVID-19 outbreak. Thankfully, we have not had a case of COVID-19 within our network. However, as you may have heard, Governor Pritzker ordered all Illinois schools closed until March 30 to curb COVID-19 transmission. In these unprecedented times, we rely more than ever on the 26 Principles of A Disciplined Life to guide our actions and plans.
Perspectives's mission to provide academically rigorous lessons to its students continues. To ensure students learn during school closure, Perspectives crafted grade-level and standards-aligned lessons that all students can access, either in Google classroom or in hard copy.
Teachers and staff continue to encourage students to accept only quality work from themselves. By providing feedback on Google classroom lessons and checking in with students, we ensure our students continue to grow as learners and leaders.
Our commitment to students' social and emotional well-being, through A Disciplined Life, continues. All Perspectives students have been assigned a mentor for the duration of our eLearning programming. Mentors check in with students daily to ensure basic needs, such as access to healthy meals, are met, and to provide encouragement and support on academic work.
We still encourage students to live a healthy lifestyle. Our students continue to have access to healthy meals as we are distributing breakfast and lunch to students through a curbside pick-up daily between the hours of 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. In addition, our students can pick up healthy meals at any CPS location, and our staff can drop off meals to homebound students and families.
We continue our commitment to safety and peace in our communities. Our buildings remain a hub for all types of student and family support. An administrator and support team staffs each campus daily during the closure to provide on-site assistance to students and families as needed, within CDC and CDPH guidelines. We also encourage our students and staff to practice social distancing to the best of their ability. As this is such a stressful and anxious time, we are also providing mental health resources for our network.
Now more than ever, we value our community and realize the global impact of everyone doing their part to ensure that our health is safeguarded. We care about your well-being as our Perspectives partners and hope that you are taking good care of you and your loved ones.
Thank you for your continued support as we navigate how to best support our students in this unprecedented time. Our website will continue to get updated with information, and you can always reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
Together, We Live A Disciplined Life,
Deborah Stevens, CEO
