Law Enforcement Assessment

Generously supported by the Elephant Crisis Fund, an independent assessment of CLZ’s Wildlife Protection effort was conducted by Mark Jenkins, a very experienced and respected protection area manager, originally from Kenya. He was flown, boated and driven around the LZ system meeting with officers, operations personnel, the Warden, CLZ Chair, tour operators etc. We're looking forward to receiving the report. 

Refresher Training for the Dog Unit

After having been operational since early August, it was time for a refresher training session for the dog unit with specialist trainer Jay Crafter from Invictus K9. The unit spent 10 days with Jay, brushing up on their detection and tracking skills, as well as their physical fitness. He was impressed with the standard the unit is keeping up and the successes they have had so far.
Farewell to Shaina 
After volunteering at CLZ, Shaina joined the CLZ team permanently as Base Camp Manager in October 2014. Two years have flown by in which she has made a valuable addition to the team. We will all miss her dearly and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours. Good luck Shaina!
Nederberg/Southern Sun Wine Auction

Generously invited by the Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel (Lusaka), CLZ once again took part in the Nederberg Wine Auction that was held at the Southern Sun on the 11th November. Thanks to Richard Chapple, the Southern Sun, the auction bidders and winners and of course, thanks to Mwambashi River Lodge, Kanyemba Lodge and Alison Street for auction prizes - CLZ raised $6,940 this year!
