A day full of blessings, fun and treats for our dogs!

Every year Kukur Tihar or Dog Puja is celebrated at our Chobar shelter with a big bang. This year AN opted for a unique approach. As usual animal lovers were invited to worship the rescued dogs and donkeys. But they were also invited to a workshop in which volunteers Amber and Brett demonstrated how to make pet toys from recycled materials for our pooches . Learn more about the event here.

Watch this lovely video of the celebration.

Shelter dogs say: “Winter, come try me”!

As the weather is getting colder, Animal Nepal asked its well wishers to donate old blankets and to donate towards wooden doors to insulate the twelve dog kennels. AN is overwhelmed by the positive responses! Nima Ghale and Jigme Gurung donated four blankets to shelter manager Shankar Sapkota. Two more came from a Pharping Monastry. We are still working hard to raise 300 euro / NRs 34.500 for the ply kennel doors. Click here to learn more about the campaign.

Jumbo deaths

Animal Nepal was deeply saddened by the death of two safari elephants, both called Laxmi Kali, in Chitwan. The jumbo deaths are a big loss for Sauraha and for Nepal as a whole. The elephants were believed to die from digestive problems but basically lost their lives due  to the systematic mismanagement and abuse that safari elephants endure. Voices of Animals at Planet Nepal 3!

On November 1, Animal Nepal made a remarkable presentation at the Planet Nepal 3 event organized by Alliance Française and the French Embassy. The festival focuses on arts & environment. Our aim was to educate visitors about the importance of animals. We displayed the beautiful portraits of dogs by Nirmal Rana to which we added their voices. We distributed brochures and sold cupcakes and T-shirts. The income went to our elephant welfare project. Click here to view the detailed report and photos from the event.
