|COMPANIES AND VOLUNTEERS PLAN BEACH CLEAN UP
The Antigua Hotels & Tourist Association (AHTA) put out a call for local hotels, civic organisations, businesses and conservation groups to participate in the Ocean Conservancy’s Annual International Coastal Clean-up Day on Saturday September 20. To date, many companies and volunteers have responded, although more are needed.
AS Bryden's has teamed up with AUA Medical College and BeachLimerz to clean up Ft. James Beach on Saturday afternoon. Sugar Ridge Hotel is sending a team of volunteers to Morris Bay to gather up all the trash they can find. Sandals Grande Antigua has committed a team to work on Ffryes Beach.
In addition, Karib Cable/FLOW and the EAG will be taking care of Runaway Beach, Rogers Media will tend to Little Ffryes, and the Rotaract Club will clean up Valley Church. Owen George, founder of the Go Green Antigua Party, will be working on Darkwood Beach.
If you would like to join the effort, click on the links above to get in touch with the organizers or contact the AHTA office--they would love to see you out there. And Antigua's visiting tourists as well as the marine life around the island will be very thankful you made the effort!
