Let women lead the way in 2017.

We are pleased to announce that FGW's 6th Global Convening will be held July 17-21, 2017 in Washington DC. Future newsletters will share our convening theme and information on speakers, panelists and receptions. Tentative plans include a panel presentation by some of our MENA (Middle East North Africa) participants on the Hill and visits with members of Congress.

St. Paul, MN
Senator Sandy Pappas is a featured speaker at the St. Paul March Rally at the State Capitol. Among others also speaking is Sen. Patricia Torres Ray, a former convening participant with the USA team. St. Paul is one of over 370 cities with demonstrations planned in solidarity with the Women's March on Washington.
Washington D.C.
Over 100,000 protesters are expected to join on January 21st in a demonstration planned to show that women's rights are human rights. Organizers say of the march, "We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us."
Tel Aviv, Israel
Our sisters in Israel have planned a demonstration outside of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv the day after the U.S. Presidential Inauguration. Organizers Pantsuit Nation Israel, 'IfNotNow' and All That's Left, have stated their objective as being to show support to American-Israeli's and to take a stand against bigotry.

FGW President Sandy Pappas traveled to Israel this December, taking several meetings regarding Forward Global Women's 2017 Convening. Here she is pictured in Bethlehem at the Jacir Palace Hotel with Huda Abuquorb (our Palestinian team leader), Chelsea Matson, and Ms. Abuqourb's niece.

(Right) A monumental peace agreement was reached in Colombia this past November. Inspired activists were at the lead of the movement and with the help of human rights organizations, nearly one third of the negotiators involved in the peace talks were women.
