USU in the News 
CSU, Long Beach’s RISE program has received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to to create a pipeline for underrepresented students in the biomedical sciences.

Dr. Susan Martin has been appointed as the interim president of San Jose State University.

The University of Akron is in partnership with LeBron James to provide free college tuition to inner-city youth who graduate from Akron Public Schools and complete the LeBron James Family Foundation mentoring program.


The University of New Mexico team published an article in the Health Affairs blog on New Mexico’s state-based solution to expanding primary care physician residencies using Medicaid funding.
 
Also, the University of New Mexico's Department of Dental Medicine was recently awarded a $2.5 million grant from HRSA to develop a special needs dental clinic.
 
Meredith Bond, Dean of College of Sciences and Health Professions at Cleveland State University and Co-Principal Investigator for the Urban Universities for HEALTH initiative was appointed to a task force on diversity in the biomedical research workforce.

The National Science Foundation has produced its latest white paper, "Realizing STEM Equity and Diversity through Higher Education-Community Engagement" presenting a promising approach to advancing equity in STEM.

Office of Small Business Development Centers Small Business Administration - to  fund an existing statewide or regional Small Business Development Center program.

Big Data to Knowledge (BD2K) Development of Software Tools and Methods for Biomedical Big Data  - to solicit development of software tools and methods in the three topic areas of data privacy, data re-purposing, and applying metadata, all as part of the overall BD2K initiative.  
Deadline: October 6, 2015
