From the Vice President

The APLU annual conference in Indianapolis, IN starting November 15 - 17, 2015 is quickly approaching. You won't want to miss USU’s exciting agenda. In partnership with APLU, we will be holding an innovation challenge pitch session. Six universities will be competing for the chance to win up to $165,000 in prize money. There will also be a training workshop on Monday, November 16th supported by Lumina Foundation and Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation. It will explore completion grants and other tools to enhance student success with the possibility of applying for seed money to launch this program at your institution. Please reply to sgarmise@aplu.org if your institution will be participating in this workshop.

Please attend the Presidents and Chancellors Luncheon on Sunday, November 15th. This luncheon serves as USU’s annual business meeting and we need you all to be there. 

And, there will be two special events sponsored by Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). On Monday afternoon, there will be an IUPUI site visit where we will tour IUPUI’s' engagement activities followed by a reception. Additionally, all USU members are invited to attend the installation ceremony for IUPUI's new chancellor, Dr. Nasser Paydar Tuesday, November 17th on the IUPUI Campus Center, 420 University Boulevard, Indianapolis, IN starting at 2:00 p.m.

Congratulations
The Pathways for Emerging Healthcare Leaders Program, developed by the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing has been awarded a five-year, $2.5 million grant from the Office of Minority Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The University of Minnesota's Venture Center at the Office for Technology Commercialization formed a record 16 startup companies around inventions that aim to tackle some of society’s greatest challenges. 


USU Spotlight

The Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, a product development hub, will be available to entrepreneurs, local industry, college and high school students as they pursue entrepreneurial ventures.
