COVID -19 update
On July 24, 2020, the Government of Ontario ended the state of emergency it declared because of the COVID-19 situation. This means nonprofits only have until November 21, 2020, to hold members’ meetings that had to be held between July 23, 2020 and August 24, 2020.
However, the government is giving nonprofits more time to hold their board meetings or members’ meetings electronically. Nonprofits now have until May 31, 2021 to hold meetings online or by phone. They can do this even if their bylaws say they cannot.
