From my Sketchbook
Last newsletter I mentioned I had started doing Movember with my drawing a day in my sketchbook. I've been sharing them on my Instagram, and it has been brilliant fun. This week I was particularly pleased with this guy, the walrus version two!
This guy is from the same series and is titled 'the doughnut' - I think he inadvertently has something of Peter Kay's club bouncer character about him from 'Phoenix nights'??
From my Store
Framed originals of my snoring bear illustrations are in my etsy shop. (Postcard sets are also available of these lovely illustrations). They're just £25 for an original signed illustration including the frame!

The idea for these pictures came from a long time ago, a story idea of a girl who wanted to hibernate (something I'd quite like to do every time winter comes around and my studio becomes freezing!). This bear was someone the girl met in the story, and in drawing these bears I rather liked them. They are made using a stencil, something a bit different for me, and using little letter stamps to create the word 'snore', repeated over and over again. Detail on the picture is drawn with pen and ink.

Interesting stuff
When I am drawing or painting I love to listen to an audio book, usually I quite like a good old murder - though not too grisly!! I have recently got into podcasts and have really been enjoying 'Conversations of Inspiration' by Holly and co. What I love about it is not only the variety of people that are interviewed, but hearing their stories behind their businesses. The conversations take place between Holly Tucker (who set up Not On The High Street), and various businesses who have inspired her.

I am eek-ing out the episodes and am still on series one, but I have particularly enjoyed this episode with Andy Poplar who started his company 'Vinegar and Brown paper', producing beautiful etched glass with witty and thoughtful words.

If you love hearing stories from makers and creative entrepreneurs, give this podcast a try!
