Hi All,
The series of radio shows we made on the History of Drag are now all available to listen to online - so please give them a listen. Thanks to everyone who has been in touch about them. If you'd like to work with us on a similar project do get in touch

This week on Formats Unpacked Beatrice Cooke unpacked a non-format format. If you aren't a subscriber, what are you thinking? Subscribe now and get it direct to your inbox every Wednesday.

Tickets for the annual Ada's List conference are now on sale. Storythings director Anjali Ramachandran is one of the co-founders of Ada's List, but don't let that guilt you into buying a ticket (buy a ticket).

Thanks this week go to Nick Parker, Beatrice Cooke, Jason Kottke, and Katie Moffat.  Show some love to them by subscribing to their newsletters or buying their stuff.

Have a great weekend.

Matt Locke: The Most Overlooked Invention of the 20th Century
Another fascinating piece from our very own Matt Locke about an overlooked invention that shaped so much of our leisure time in the last century, and the modern equivalent that is replacing it.

Work is a False Idol

I try not to include stories that have been shared widely but this really stuck with me. Yes, it's full of (acknowledged) privilege, but it touches on something that is much bigger than the power of taking breaks and taking naps. It reflects the thoughts of millions of people who aren't rejecting capitalism but are questioning what kind of work they want to go back to.

Seth Godin: The Difference Between Copy, Design and Craft
Craft is a word we use a lot at Storythings. So Seth Godin's typically brief blog post on why copy needs craft to have impact caught my attention.

Norm McDonald and Why We Need Shaggy Dog Stories Right Now
I didn't know much about the comedian Norm McDonald who passed away this week. From reading some of the tributes I think I'm going to enjoy discovering him more. His approach to comedy sits in close proximity to Billy Connely and Dave Allen. All incredible storytellers. In this fantastic tribute, Jason Boog points to McDonald's wonderful moth joke, which as he points out is the perfect joke for late-night chat shows.
