Expedited Scheduling of Histology and Histopathology
In today’s drug development environment, many of our clients have critical projects with tight timelines that need to be met in order to advance their programs.  This is particularly vital in the pre-IND (Investigational New Drug) phase of a preclinical drug development program.  Often, expedited histology and histopathology are requested immediately preceding submission of the IND to a regulatory agency or prior to the initiation of a longer term repeat dose study that depends on the findings of the previous investigation.

Preliminary Planning and Project Management
The decision of when and where to send a study for expedited histology and/or histopathology is frequently prompted by delays in the initial schedule.  This is the point at which the work should either be starting or nearly finished, and it highlights the importance of preliminary planning and project management of the client’s workload.  Often the client is tasked with completing a study on schedule, while at the same time dealing with competing studies that must also be completed to meet management expectations.

EPL History
Founded in 1971, Experimental Pathology Laboratories, Inc. (EPL®) is a private, employee-owned U.S. company that is recognized internationally for its ability to meet the needs of the scientific community and the challenges of preclinical safety testing with high quality, on-time histopathology services. More

Necropsy

A select group of technicians has been trained in animal necropsy techniques to form specialized EPL Necropsy Teams. In recent years, the demand for this unique service has increased significantly as the benefits have become apparent to the industry.

Histology

Experimental Pathology Laboratories, Inc. focuses on providing expert and timely GLP histology services to the toxicology research community. Our two fully-equipped histology laboratories are modern in design and are located in Sterling, Virginia.

IHC

EPL offers high quality immunohistochemical staining services using standard protocols developed in-house or transferred from the client. As many studies submitted to EPL do not have a protocol available for the intended antigen, species, or tissue to be studied, we offer support in developing new protocols or optimizing existing immunohistochemistry protocols.
