Our container came, outta the blue

It turns out, much to our relief, that the April 25th ETA I talked about in the last newsletter is for Appaloosas, not Sam and Platypus frames. Our container arrived Friday morning and they're all packed away into our warehouse now.

We've already started chipping away at the Sam orders, which are pre-sold-out. Check out how tightly packed the container was in Sergio's XA snap:
Platypus frames will be available to order Thursday April 1st at 12pm PST. You'll have to trust us that it isn't an April Fools joke. We're going to finish all the Sam orders before starting on the Plattys so even though you'll be able to buy one, we'll take awhile to get to your order.

The two colors are shown above, and from here on out we'll call them Mermaid (background) and Lime Olive (foreground). Here's a picture of a Mermaid 50cm we built up for photos:
We're waiting on Dutch grips to plug on there.

Here's what the Mermaid paint looks like in the sun:
At least that's as accurate as my terrible color editing skills allow. Maybe this is slightly too warm. Anyway, it's a great color; we're super happy with how it turned out, but it's definitely not "Blilver" (blue-silver). Green silver is more accurate, but I like mermaid better.

We knew Lime Olive would be a winner from the get-go.
Weird shadows in this pic.. We'll retake it later. This is Lime Olive in the shade.

Check out the rest of the photos of the demo bike in this blog post. There's a stock build listed at the bottom too.

Big ol' Toscos

We also got a shipment of 65cm Tosco bars in. This is a good choice for  rough-stuff riding on bigger bikes. They're available only with a 31.8mm clamp, so pair it with one of our Nitto Fillet Faceplate stems. We also re-stocked the 55cm and 60cm variations.

Woolywarm re-stock

Sweater vests and cardigans are back in stock. The sweater vests are the same as before, but the cardigans have 7 buttons instead of 6 this time and the neckline is slightly lower. I'm 6'2, 163 pounds, and would get a large in both styles. Sergio, pictured here, is 5'10, 160 lbs and wearing a large. James, below, also wears a large in both and is 5'8, 155 lbs. Check the sweater vest out here and the cardigan here.
Crust just uploaded this 8 1/2 minute POV of a ride on a Susie through some East coast trails. That's perfect shifter placement on those bars.

Another smart looking Sam

David at Hope Cyclery got a 60cm Sam out of the last batch and there's a gallery of it on The Radavist. I love those XTR V-brakes! Congrats on the cool bike, David.

More staff bikes up

Grant's 59cm Clem and Cheviot are up now, with commentary. He keeps the grips interesting, and actually, they're always really comfy on the brief rides I've done on his bikes.

The Blahg

Grant has a new one up with an excerpt from his new book, an homage to ye olde sheet metal mailbox (the perfect companion to your RBW51 rack), and the above picture from Sam at Mack's Bike & Goods (A dealer of ours in Illinois).

It's one of our baby bikes, and I'm not sure Sam knew that, but regardless he says it's the best bike he's ever ridden. Thank you Sam! It's that long front and rear center, fatty tires and super swept back bars that make it so fun.

Back in stock 3/26/21

Our friend Irving (Hunqapillar owner) has been making some great memes about our little corner of the bike market. This one sums up our 2018 working experience nicely. We still have these moments, but thankfully not as often.

Cat news:

Spencer got a better picture. I'm calling this one Wolbis and the one upstairs, who we still haven't trapped, Susie.
