Fire--the Element of Transformation

How a Spark can change your Life

Fire..the bringer of Change, the bringer of Action...the Great Transformer...

When we focus on the element of Fire we turn the lense of introspection upon ourselves, focusing on the quality of the relationship we have with our own spirit.

As a transformational force, Fire is the healer who shows us how to engage in the art of release and sacrifice. Fire helps us to free our Hearts to Love what truly matters to us and freeing our lives from the patterns of thinking, speaking, and acting that drain our hearts of their natural fullness for all Life.

There is big medicine to be found in the Fire; it brings the blessing of freed energy so that you can feel and follow the true passion of your soul’s longing.

How big is your Fire?

When you read the title of the newsletter, what did your Fire look like? Did you associate it with a forest fire? A match? A campfire? A single candle? A stove top? A torch?

Water last month, Fire is also a personal experience. Have you noticed that when a group gathers to watch a fire (be it ceremonial or not) there is, at first, a sense of joy and excitement...and then, it becomes quiet as the Fire speaks to the individual? The group quiets, the flames speak with shapes and sounds and in colors...there is much Medicine indeed in the amber glow, the heat, the is active, alive, dangerous, all consuming of both material as well as of's very powerful indeed!

Come, gather around the fire, let us talk and get lost and in doing so, discover that which awaits us in the flames.

Musical Link of the Month

Inlakesh Fire Gathering

I often play this at our Shamanic based Workshops for the energy it brings. This is a great piece to do in the dark (a fire would be appropriate) and to let loose and dance! Don't be bashful and feel the freedom of the Fire!

Power Animal of the Month: Gazelle

Gazelle brings us Medicine that mirrors many of the attributes of Fire, especially its power to get things moving! This Medicine includes:

  • Speed
  • Agility

  • Beauty
  • Grace
  • Vertical movement
  • Ability to maneuver
What attribute of Fire stands out for you? Use our Power Animal Index (this is given to our Foundation Students) to cross reference the attribute to the Power Animal.
Upcoming Workshops

On October 17, we return to Mumbai with the debut of our Dreams--Your gateway to Healing workshop. Over a year in development, we are very excited to bring this program from Dreams to Reality.

We will also launch our One Year Mentorship program in Mumbai on October 16th. For our wonderful tribe, we look forward to what awaits!
Journey of the Month: The Spirit of Fire

For our Shamanic Practitioners, please take time to do the following Journey: Connect to the Spirit of Fire.

Personally, I would start by connecting to the fire that I always have lit at my Axis Mundi. (The Axis Mundi is our Shamanic Center place, it is where our journey work begins. It is very powerful and special to us as practitioners).

In your journey, ask about Fire, inquire about Fire's nature, it's gifts, it's Power. Ask the Fire to open a gateway into a place you need to see...step into the Fire...what has opened up? Where does it take you?

Ask Fire how it can be used in your Practice? How does it heal? Being opposite of Water, how does it do its work differently? What do those colors mean? What is hidden in the embers?

I have found, over the course of years, that the Element of Fire is one of the greatest Elemental allies for Shamanic work. From illumination to transformation, it is a very trusted friend.

For our Phoenix students:
Remember the row boat exercise from Day 1? Fire can easily hold many Shadow aspects to it such as:Energy, Power, Passion, Action, Sexuality, Creativity, Authority, the Untamed and Consumption. There is the potential for many suppressed parts here.

Hop into your boat and row to the Island to meet with The Spirit of Fire, especially if any of the aspects above are suppressed. See what unfolds in the flames!

From the Storyteller

"There is a Goddess that I know of...and of whom I now speak. Her name is Pele...and she comes from a place that is far away...she is a Goddess of an Island people...and she is a Goddess of Fire.

"She dances on a Volcano...and she uses her fire to destroy and to also create.

"She spoke to me the other day...with a message for you all. I share this with you now...."

“Be honest with yourself: What is your heart’s true desire?

“If you listen to the sound of your heart and breath, you will recognize the ancient rhythms of your own internal drumming.

"This forever connects you to the Mother of all creation, and to the sound of the planet Earth. These rhythms can’t be faked or forged; they are natural and eternal.

"What part of you are you trying to ignore? What part of you has been overly concerned with pleasing others, to the detriment of hearing the sounds of your own rhythm?

"Dear child, reach out and extend your arms to embrace your dreams. They are just as much a part of nature as are the trees, animals, and sunsets.

"Do not your own dreams deserve the same respect that you accord everyone and everything that you love?

"Listen to them, my child. Listen to your dreams. They will activate the powerful eruption of passion in your life.

"Do not be afraid of your own passion, for it will propel you naturally and will excite and invigorate you. When you dance to the rhythms of your life, you are truly alive in all ways.”
About Pele (pronounced Pay-lay): The Hawaiian Goddess of Volcanos, Pele’s dynamic strength is sometimes misunderstood. Pele is one of the most dramatic goddesses of Hawaiian mythology. She resides in Hawaiian hearts and minds as the supreme representation of volcanic majesty and power.

Pele shows us that fire can purify and release us from the old to make way for the new, and it can ignite our passions. Without fire, nothing would change.
Pele will help you feel everything on a deeper level, so be unafraid of taking action to manifest your heart’s desires.

Pele has a volcanic personality and has the power to create new land.
She is the representation of all strong female emotions. Her nature is described as impetuous and lusty, jealous, unpredictable, and capable of sudden fury and great violence.

Likewise, she can also be gentle, loving, and as serene as her forests of ferns and flowering trees.

A ho!
