Time Zone for Bear Necessities Content
  • Unless otherwise noted, all times listed in the Bear Necessities are Pacific Standard Time. This is extremely important to note for when Summer and Fall Bidding rounds end!

Summer 2021 Registration & Enrollment Upcoming Dates and Deadlines
  • Summer Electives Webinar: Wednesday Mar 10, 12 noon.
  • All webinars will be recorded. Links, recordings, and slides will be posted to the EWMBA home page and Registration Timeline.
  • Summer Bidding Round 1 Monday Mar 15, 12 noon-Friday Mar 19, 12 noon.
  • Add/Drop Round 1 Friday Mar 19, 4PM-Thursday Mar 25, 12 noon.

Heads up on Core: Spring B Announcements
  • Cheers to completing 3/4 of your first year!!
  • Attendance Policy for EWMBA207: Ethics One absence will be permitted, but no more than one. Absences may affect your participation grade.
  • Blue & Gold: Combined Cohort Day on Monday Mar 22
  • Axe & Oski: No Class on Saturday Mar 27

[Action Requested] Update Your Diploma Address in CalCentral
  • To celebrate your graduation, the EWMBA Program Office will be sending a cap and tassel directly to your diploma address in CalCentral. Instructions for how to update it (and other addresses) here.
  • To ensure that your gift arrives at your home please update the address by Thursday Mar 11.
  • If your diploma address might change after Mar 11, just go back in to CalCentral and update it again. Diplomas are generally sent out 4 months after your last semester (e.g. Sep for May graduates).
Reminder: Graduation Planning Committee
  • If you are interested in helping with the graduation planning committee, please contact Avni Kansara.
Review Graduation Requirements
  • For students graduating in May or Aug 2021, review graduation requirements and the recording and slides from our 3rd year advising on how to complete a graduation audit.
  • If you will not graduate in May or Aug 2021, complete the Graduation Date Modification Form by Feb 28 to participate in Summer and/or Fall bidding.
  • EWMBA students do not need to submit an intent to graduate. The Program Office will check the graduation requirements for students at the end of the semester.

Important Reminders


Update: Chou Hall Individual Workrooms for Haas Graduate Students
  • The Chou Hall Individual Workroom program for Haas graduate students will resume and with expanded hours on Mondays and Tuesdays. This will allow students to utilize indoor workspaces here at Haas. It is optional and voluntary; students are not required to participate.
  • Reservations are 3 hours maximum on:
    • Mondays and Tuesdays: 9AM until 9PM
    • Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 9AM until 4PM
    • Haas is hoping to expand access to these workrooms to include Wednesday and Thursday evenings and weekends and the Program Office will keep students posted.
  • Refer to the email titled "[EWMBA] Chou Hall Individual Workrooms for Haas Graduate Students."

Self Care Tips


Assess Your Well-Being
  • University Health Services offers online screenings for depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress. The screenings may help you determine whether seeking professional consultation would be of benefit to you.
  • These free screenings are available to all UC Berkeley students and are taken anonymously.
  • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) are also available to help triage what type of counseling may be best for you.

  • Berkeley Haas Alumni Relations in partnership with the Center for Responsible Business (CRB) invites you to attend a Haas Forum on companies leading through sustainable business practices, moderated by Robert Strand, Executive Director of the CRB. 
  • The Berkeley Haas Alumni panel will discuss their Haas student experience, career journeys, and unique perspectives on how sustainability can be a source of innovation and leadership across industries

Story 3: Engaging Behavioral Stories

  • In this workshop, we will: 
    • Take those understandable stories and add in elements that make them more engaging and memorable - stand out in a good way.
    • Learn, apply and practice good structure to translate your experiences into understandable stories : less noise, more signal!
    • Learn how to shape your stories to make them more relevant and appealing to influencers and hiring managers - be interesting to them, not everyone.

Building a Great LinkedIn Profile
