EWMBAA VP Applications: Now’s the time to go beyond yourself!

Due Friday Feb 5
  • In this great year of change, we need your help to make the EWMBAA the best unit to serve our Haas community. 
  • Want to make a difference to our student experience? Get to know more classmates across cohorts and years, and work with UC Berkeley leadership? From admissions to mental health and incoming student experience, we have VP positions across a number of portfolios waiting for EWMBA students to step up and make a difference. 
  • You can find details on all the positions in this doc, and we'll be dropping by your classes and happy hours this week to share more. If you have specific questions, please reach out to us - we want to hear from you!

Add/Drop Reminders
  • Drops Only Round ends Saturday Jan 30 at 11:59PM.
  • Full-Time Course Request Review 2 Jan 29 at 12 noon.
  • Be sure to check OLR during the Drops Only round and drop any unwanted classes, including those that you are on the waitlist for.
  • Reminder: existing waitlists will be processed until the end of the round, so there is a chance you will be enrolled in a class.

  • Interested in the Entrepreneurship ecosystem at Berkeley Haas?  Rhonda Shrader, Executive Director of the Berkeley Haas Entrepreneurship Program & MBA 96, talks about championing Entrepreneurship at Haas in the most recent OneHaas Alumni Podcast.
Reminder: SVSHP Refresher Course
  • Please note that all current students are required to complete an annual refresher training in alignment with requirements from the 2014 CA State Auditor's Report, the Clery Act, and UC SVSH Policy. This also reflects Berkeley’s continued commitment to effectively prevent and respond to sexual violence and sexual harassment (SVSH).
  • Be on the lookout for a task in CalCentral for the refresher training module. The module is expected to take 5-20 minutes to complete.
Berkeley Haas Fisher Center Real Estate Scholarships
Submission Deadline is Friday Feb 5
  • Gerson Bakar Scholarship - Up to $10,000
    • Candidates must demonstrate a significant passion for real estate as a career objective, exhibit an entrepreneurial drive and be pursuing completion of the IGCRE Certificate in Real Estate.
  • Jon Q. Reynolds Scholarship - Up to $10,000
    • Candidates must be pursuing a career in real estate and demonstrate a high level of academic distinction and participation in the real estate program.
  • Falik Family Fellowship - Up to $10,000
    • Candidates must demonstrate a passion for real estate and exhibit significant leadership and entrepreneurial qualities during their graduate studies. Open to both graduating and continuing students.
  • The application is open and will close on Friday Feb 5. Decisions will be released by close of business on Monday Mar 1.

Six Sigma Training Interst Survey
  • The General Management (GML) Club is partnering with Optness Institute to bring an opportunity for HAAS Students to learn Lean Six Sigma for managers and MBAs. The GML Club is running a short survey to be better prepared for the course planning.
  • This is a 2-day crash course in "Six Sigma for Management and Decision-Making" and is a highly subsidized program (90% off) offered by Optness for partner schools and includes a Six Sigma - Green Belt certification at the end of the course. 

Reconnecting with Our Humanity at Work

  • The GML Club invites you to an engaging and interactive session with Professor Jennifer Caleshu (Leadership Communications, Building Trust-Based Relationships) designed to support you, your peers, and your teams, in creating an optimistic, human-first culture in these unprecedented times.
  • Share your own experiences and learn best practices from each other. 

Self Care Tips


StayWell At Home
  • Are you struggling with social distancing? Feeling anxious because of COVID-19?
  • StayWell at home is a free daily text messaging program run by PhD candidate Alein Haro and professor Adrian Aguilera at the Digital Health Equity & Access Lab (DHEAL) at UC Berkeley. 
  • Participants receive a text message per day for 60 days. The messages are based on cognitive behavioral therapy and include coping skills, social support, and behavioral activation. At the end of the 60 days, participants will receive a $20 gift card.

Resume Workshop

  • This workshop is going to walk you through how a recruiter or hiring manager might evaluate a resume, and along the way highlight how you might alter your resume to help them help you.
  • We will look at resumes together and evaluate them through this process and understand how to stack the odds in your favor - just to be clear, there is no magic bullet.

Call for BERC Innovation Expo Applications
Due Friday Jan 29
  • The Innovation Expo is a research poster exhibition and prize contest, where attendees and participants can learn about innovative energy research from the student researchers themselves! Students are encouraged to apply to present posters at the Innovation Expo. The Expo will be on Feb 10 during the 15th Annual BERC Energy Summit. It’s a great place to showcase your research, be it a completed project or an in-progress one and win prizes worth $1100.
  • Note that the application does not require a completed poster- just a short abstract/description and three ‘seeded’ questions about your research. Final poster PDF is due Feb 5.
Exploring a New Normal - Deal Evaluation During Uncertainty
Friday Jan 29, 10-11:15AM PST
  • The Sustainable & Impact Finance at Berkeley Haas invites you to this interactive workshop where participants will complete two deal evaluation exercises. Speakers will share how investors are navigating deal evaluation as COVID-19 introduces a new reality, academic research on how uncertainty can impact the quality of decisions people make, and practices that may help.

15th Annual BERC Energy Summit

  • The Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative (BERC) is hosting their 15th Annual Energy Summit virtually this year. It's the largest student-led energy conference in the country, bringing together 500+ students, researchers, policy makers, industry leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss the world's most pressing energy challenges.

bCourses Troubleshooting - Not Seeing Enrolled Courses
  • Don't see one of the bCourses site for a course you are enrolled in?
    • If the course has not started yet, please allow professors time to finalize the bCourses site.
    • If the course has started, double check your enrollment in CalCentral. If you are enrolled, CalCentral and bCourses sync overnight and you should have access after that time.
  • Did you know? The Courses window will only list so many courses. To update which courses you see, in the left nav, click on Courses > All Courses. There is a limit on how many courses can be shown in that view and on your dashboard. You can star or unstar courses to customize what comes up when you log in. Please note that courses are not sorted in any particular order.
