City Council to vote on STR Ordinance Tuesday Feb 23

Here are details and how you can help

Tuesday, February 23 at 11am, the San Diego City Council will vote on Council President Jennifer Campbell’s Good Neighbor Short-Term Rental Ordinance, which includes a flexible four-tiered approach to licensing that provides a variety of options for STR owners to exercise their property rights, while also establishing a reasonable enforcement program to remove the bad actors that blemish our industry’s good name.
This ordinance includes a license tier specifically for Mission Beach (Tier 4) that allows up to 30%, a cap we feel is fair and consistent with what the community supports.

Opponents are calling for the Council to ban STRs completely, but we are supporting the proposed ordinance because it balances the economic opportunities created by STRs, while also ensuring San Diegans have a resource to report nuisances – STR related or not.
Share San Diego also supports increasing the whole home license cap in Tier 3 to ensure additional hosts can continue to operate responsibly, prioritizing license allocation to current hosts who have been paying their TOT and following the rules rather than a random lottery and we oppose bans masquerading as improvements to the ordinance such as district-by-district caps.
