Roadworks Notice: Port Douglas Road

THE Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be carrying out asphalt resurfacing works on Port Douglas Road at Agincourt Street roundabout and Lakeland Avenue/ Avenue of Palms roundabout from 17 March 2022.

2022 Variety Jet Trek To Finish At Port Douglas

The 7-day trek will be finishing in Port Douglas on Saturday 26 March.

Support crews will collect participants and their jet skis from Market Park as they arrive throughout  the morning, resulting in heavy traffic use of the Port Douglas Boat Ramp and car park.

Smart Water Meter Program

METER installation company Data Right will be installing smart water meters in Port Douglas, commencing Monday 28 March. Staff will carry Data Right identification with them when working to confirm they are authorised to do work on behalf of Council.

Daintree Ferry Temporary Closure - May 2022

The Daintree ferry service will cease at 10pm on Friday 6 May 2022 and resume at 5am on Monday 9 May 2022.

Douglas News Bites

  • Safety kerbs and guideposts have been installed along Alchera Drive to improve pedestrian and vehicle separation.
  • New disabled parking bays located at the northern end of the Port Douglas Esplanade and the  corner of Macrossan and Owen streets. 
  • Water crews have been busy replacing a faulty Wang Offtake Clamp and valve on the 450mm water main located at the corner of Coral Sea Drive, Mossman.
  • Douglas Creek Road is closed at the southern end of Lees Bridge (see below photo) to all traffic until further notice.

Proposed Development: Combined Application (MCUI Intense Horticulture & ROL Lease)

Rainforest Rescue is seeking approval to establish a plant nursery that will allow for the propagation of plants to be used in the rehabilitation of parts of the Daintree Rainforest. The nursery is expecting to initially grow approximately 75,000 plants in the first year, increasing to 150,000 at full capacity and will supply local regeneration projects.
