Rev. Dr. Amy Butler

Rev. Dr. Amy Butler serves as the seventh Senior Minister of the historic Riverside Church in New York City.  Prior to her work at The Riverside Church, Pastor Amy served for eleven years as Senior Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, Washington DC.   Pastor Amy received her B.A. and M.A. in Church History from Baylor University in Waco, TX, her Bachelor of Theology from the International Baptist Seminary in Rüschlikon, Switzerland, and her Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.  Before her call to Calvary, Pastor Amy served as Associate Pastor at St. Charles Baptist Church in New Orleans and worked for eight years with homeless women in the city of New Orleans.  Pastor Amy was raised in Hawaii and is a mother of three young adults.  She writes a regular column for the Associated Baptist Press and blogs at

Reverend Luis Cortés Jr.

The Reverend Luis Cortés Jr. is the President and CEO of Esperanza, the largest Hispanic faith-based Evangelical network in the United States. Driven by the biblical mandate to serve and advocate for “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40), the underserved and marginalized in our society, Rev. Cortés founded Esperanza in 1987 with support from the Hispanic Clergy of Philadelphia. Today, with a national network of over 13,000 Hispanic faith and community based organizations, Esperanza in one the leading voices for Latinos in America. On a national level, Esperanza has had many successful initiatives that range from education and training services for at-risk and adjudicated Latino youth, mentoring, healthy marriage programs, teen pregnancy prevention, HIV/AIDS education, hunger and nutrition initiatives, climate change education, and providing capacity building and technical assistant to faith and community-based organizations. In 2005 Rev. Cortés was listed as one of Time magazine’s 50 Most Influential Evangelicals.


Dr. Mary F. Foskett

Dr. Mary F. Foskett is Kahle Professor of Religion and Director of the Humanities Institute at Wake Forest University, where she teaches courses in New Testament studies. Her primary research interest is in contemporary approaches to New Testament interpretation, especially feminist and culturally contextualized interpretations of biblical texts and traditions. She writes publications for academic as well as lay audiences, including Interpreting the Bible: Approaching the Text in Preparation for Preaching (Fortress Press, 2009) and she serves on the editorial board of Feasting on the Gospels (John Knox Press). Dr. Foskett lives with her husband and son in Winston-Salem, NC, where they are members of First Baptist Church on Fifth Street.


Rev. Dr. Raphael Warnock

The Rev. Dr. Raphael Warnock has served, since 2005, as the Senior Pastor of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, spiritual home of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. Warnock responded to the call to ministry at a very early age, and became, at age 35, the fifth and the youngest person ever called to the senior pastorate of Ebenezer Church, founded in 1886. As a pastor, Rev. Warnock sees the whole community as his parish. He is a leading voice on the issues of voting rights, the contradictions in the criminal justice system, the AIDS epidemic and educational access. Rev. Warnock has been listed by Ebony magazine as one of “Thirty Leaders of the Future,” and one of “Twenty to Watch” by The African American Pulpit journal.
