Transfiguration Sunday

Scripture: Luke 10:1-9
Join us this Sunday for worship for the final messages in our sermon series called "Shift." This week, we'll explore God's calling to Blakemore to shift from a focus on Attraction to Mission.
This Wednesday evening, Pastor John Hill will lead the adults in discussion around the idea of "Shift: Building as a Burden to Building as a Blessing."  Children and youth programs are also planned.
Wednesday Night Dinner January 27:
Southwest Chicken Soup & sandwiches
Provided by Mary Evelyn and Cavit Cheshier

Coming up...
Please join us on Wed, Feb 17th, for THE JOURNEY OF RECONCILIATION:
Beth Richardson and Deen Thompson will be sharing Edgehill UMC’s journey of reconciliation.  Edgehill was one of the first churches to become a Reconciling Congregation in 1989.  Today there are over 700 communities that are part of the Reconciling Ministry Network welcoming all and working for the full inclusion of all members of the UMC.  Beth & Deen will share some history and stories of what it means to be reconciling Christians in the UMC in today’s world.
An urgent request from Anne Kabiling:

I need somebody to take over Worship Readiness for this
Sunday, 02/07 and next Sunday, 02/14.  I will not be at church.  Materials and lessons are ready!   I can talk to the volunteer(s) Wednesday nights or you can call me 615-719-4339 for any questions.
Thank you.
Hey, Girlfriends! This is it!!  The Retreat Leadership Team can hardly wait to be with you this weekend as we delve into the expressive power of the Psalms and spend time resting in God's goodness.  Expect an email full of details in the next couple of days. If you have a balance due (or are not sure if you still owe money) please contact Carrie Friddell ( Don't forget goodies for the Hospitality Suite!
Church policy states that events will be cancelled on days that Metro schools are closed due to inclement weather. We will also try to send out an email, especially regarding Wednesday Night Life.

During Lent this year (February 10 to March 26), we will be having multiple small groups that meet to study the book Hard to Dance with the Devil on Your Back. The groups will typically meet weekly in the evenings at someone's home, but there is some flexibility. To show your interest in being part of a group or in hosting, please complete this Online Survey or fill out a form at church. This promises to be a meaningful experience as we reflect on God's grace present in the midst of struggles. We will have books available soon in the church office for purchase.

An Epiphany Project: we are soliciting toiletry items for
West End Middle School.
Middle School is an awkward age when young people experience changes in their bodies that require changes in self-care.  Sometimes teachers and other adults become aware of these changed needs before the young people themselves and are often called on to have hard conversations.  These conversations become harder when adults know that the young person's family may not have the financial resources to buy these supplies.  The toiletries that we collect will make it easier for adults to help students meet the changing needs of their bodies.  Our bodies are a gift from God, what we collect will make it easier for young people to address the changes that growing-up bring without embarrassment.
Please consider contributing the following: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant for girls and boys, lotion, feminine hygiene products.
Leave you donations in the barrel in the Fellowship Hall.
We are very pleased to announce information and registration for our 2016 Southeastern Jurisdiction Disaster Academy! Join with others from across the region for a time of learning and fellowship.

The Blakemore United Methodist Men (BUMMs) invite any and all men to our annual retreat at the Beersheba Springs Turner Lodge on April 22nd-24th, 2016.  Join us for fun, fellowship and food!  Program information and registration forms will be available soon.
